Every sound has its own little world.

Pick a sound and its painting fills the screen, drifting gently while it plays. The phone shows a calm scene instead of a bright menu.

    Thirty sounds that soothe.

Tap any sound to hear it. Tap up to four and they play together, the way a mix works in the app. Keep the volume low, like you would at bedtime.

Plus sounds come with HushNest Plus and play a 30-second preview here. The other 11 are free, and on Android pink and brown noise are free too. See every sound and what it is good for.

Made for tired hands at bedtime.

    1. One tap starts the whole wind-down.

Line up the sounds you use every night and how long each one plays. Tap Start bedtime and HushNest runs the routine for you, with an optional reminder when it is nearly time.

    2. Timers that fade out, never cut out.

Choose 15 minutes to two hours, or your own time. At the end the sound settles slowly, so the room drifts into quiet instead of snapping to silence and startling a light sleeper.

    3. Your own quiet, up to four sounds deep.

Layer rain over brown noise, or a lullaby over the fan. Set each volume, choose the painted scene, and save the mix for tomorrow night.

    Lights down at bedtime.

Bedtime mode turns HushNest dark in the evening and back to light in the morning, on the hours you choose. No bright white screen at 8 p.m.

At 3 a.m., back to calm in seconds.

White noise, womb, heartbeat or a soft shush, right where you left them. Dim screen takes the glow down to almost nothing while the sound plays on.

No account to make, and no signal needed once a sound is on your phone.

Each sound downloads the first time you play it, then plays offline and keeps going with the screen locked. Favourites, mixes and your routine stay on your phone unless you choose to sign in with Apple or Google to sync them. HushNest never asks for your child’s name, photo or birthdate, and uses no third-party analytics.

One sound machine for everyone under your roof.

White noise is a steady sound that softens the sudden noises that wake people up: a door, a dog, traffic, a snoring partner. That works at any age, so HushNest is made for the whole family, not just the nursery.

    • Babies and toddlers

Womb, heartbeat, shush and white noise for naps and bedtime, with a fade-out timer so the room drifts into quiet.

    • Kids and teens

Rain, a lullaby or a fan as part of a calm bedtime routine, and steady sound to cover siblings, TV and street noise.

    • Adults and older adults

Brown noise, ocean or rain to fall asleep, mask snoring and city noise, and settle back down after waking in the night.

    • Focus and study

A steady backdrop for work, reading and revision, from pink noise to soft rain.

    Questions, answered.

    What is HushNest?

HushNest is a free white noise and sleep sounds app for Android and iPhone. It has 30 sounds, including white, pink and brown noise, womb, heartbeat, shush, fan, rain, ocean, forest and lullabies, each playing over its own painted scene. You can mix up to four sounds, set a timer that fades out gently, and start a whole bedtime routine with one tap.

    Is HushNest only for babies?

No. HushNest started as a baby sleep sounds app, which is why the App Store lists it as HushBaby: Baby Sleep Sounds, but it is made for every age. Parents use womb and shush sounds for babies, kids use rain and lullabies at bedtime, and adults use brown noise, fan and ocean sounds to fall asleep, mask snoring or traffic, and focus.

    Is HushNest free?

Yes. HushNest is free to download and use, with no account needed. The free sounds include white noise, rain, ocean, fan, womb, heartbeat, lullaby and more. HushNest Plus is optional and unlocks every sound and scene and unlimited saved mixes; on Android it also removes the small banner ad.

Does HushNest work offline and with the screen off?

Yes. Each sound downloads to your phone the first time you play it, then plays without a connection. Sounds keep playing in the background and with the screen locked, with controls on the lock screen.

    Can HushNest play all night?

Yes. Choose a timer from 15 minutes to 2 hours, set your own time, or let the sound play until you stop it. When a timer ends, the sound fades out slowly instead of stopping suddenly.

What is the difference between white, pink and brown noise?

White noise has equal energy at every frequency, so it sounds bright, like a hiss. Pink noise has less energy in the high frequencies, so it sounds softer, like steady rain. Brown noise drops off even more, so it sounds deep, like a low rumble or a distant waterfall. HushNest has all three.

Is white noise safe for babies?

Used sensibly, yes, for most babies: keep the volume low, about as loud as a soft shower, and keep the phone well away from the cot, never inside the sleep space. A fade-out timer avoids playing sound for longer than needed. HushNest is a comfort tool, not a medical device; ask your doctor if you have concerns.

    Tonight, make space for quiet.
